About Playmakers

About Playmakers Youth Theatre

Playmakers Youth Theatre is a dynamic Jewish youth theater program that emphasizes self-confidence, creativity, teamwork and an appreciation for the arts. Playmakers is an inclusive youth theater and performing arts program that is also wonderfully accessible and rewarding for children and youth with disabilities or physical limitations.

 

PLAYMAKERS YOUTH THEATRE ENRICHMENTS

Playmakers Jr. - Storybook Theatre • In Person 
Join us for an exploratory and nurturing introduction to performing & storytelling. Through games and favorites like Where The Wild Things Are and Elephant and Piggie, young performers will explore creative movement, drama, and their imaginations, all while making friends! This class is a great option for young performers at any level; first timers and pros will all have an equal chance to grow and have fun together! The class experience will end in a special sharing and performance.


Who: Grades K-1
When: Sundays, October 18 - December 6 • 10 - 10:45 am
Where: Mandel JCC (MP2 & Mandel Community Room)
Fee: Members: $120 Community: $160 


Playmakers Showcase - We Will All Be Stars • In Person 
Through this creative showcase, performers will have a chance to learn and workshop a solo performance or duet, receive individualized feedback and coaching, and work towards a splashy, spectacular performance. The cast will work individually or in small groups on hit numbers from Disney, Broadway hits and blockbuster movie musicals which will be woven together, pre-recorded and livestreamed! With a customizable rehearsal process and acts designed specifically to showcase YOU, this is an amazing chance to shine!

• Private coaching and mentoring in voice, stage presence, performance styles and more

Playmakers Presents: Peter & The Starcatcher • Virtual  & In Person
The curtain is rising on our most innovative Playmakers season yet, and 9th-12th graders have a unique opportunity to perform Peter and the Starcatcher while learning from Playmakers alumnus and Broadway star Jordan Matthew Brown. From auditions to opening night, actors will have the experience we’ve all been missing – rehearsing with friends, playing a part, and bringing a play to life! This experience is equal parts rehearsal process and masterclass and will help our high school actors take their craft to the next level and put on a full-scale performance they are proud of.

Who: Grades 9-12
When: October 18 - December 13 • Scheduled on individual basis

Playmakers Anywhere: Who's Who in Whoville • Virtual  & In Person
The curtain is rising on our most innovative Playmakers season yet, and 2nd-8th graders don’t want to miss the chance to bring a full musical to life in a new way. From auditions to opening night, actors will have the experience we’ve all been missing – rehearsing with friends, playing a part, and bringing a play to life! Cast members will also participate in post-rehearsal Q&As to learn about technical theater and hear from prominent professionals, and will receive backdrops and costumes to bring this fantastic, full-scale, from-home production to life.


Rehearsal and performance will be virtual; individualized instruction & group rehearsals Who’s Who In Whoville will combine the music of Seussical with the story of prominent Dr. Seuss books and scenes.

Who: Grades 2-5
When: October 18 - December 13 • Scheduled on individual basis

Playmakers Anywhere: The Word According to Snoopy • Virtual  & In Person
The curtain is rising on our most innovative Playmakers season yet, and 2nd-8th graders don’t want to miss the chance to bring a full musical to life in a new way. From auditions to opening night, actors will have the experience we’ve all been missing – rehearsing with friends, playing a part, and bringing a play to life! Cast members will also participate in post-rehearsal Q&As to learn about technical theater and hear from prominent professionals, and will receive backdrops and costumes to bring this fantastic, full-scale, from-home production to life.


Rehearsal and performance will be virtual; individualized instruction & group rehearsals The World According To Snoopy will mash-up the music of You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown and Snoopy and will include hilarious, never-before-seen Peanuts scenes.
