Lifeguard Training

& Water Safety Instructor Training

The Mandel Jewish Community Center has immediate openings for certified Lifeguards and Water Safety Instructors.

Lifeguards and Water Safety Instructors are responsible for maintaining the safety of individuals in and around the pool at all times. Part-time positions are available Monday through Sunday with varying hours based on departmental needs. Qualified applicants will have current CPR, Lifeguard, First Aide Certification with AED, and Water Safety Instructor certifications or have the ability to become certified by our trainers. Lifeguarding Pre-Skills Clinic
Designed for those wanting to pass the requirements to become a lifeguardand is also beneficial to all who are not strong swimmers. 

This course includes:

  • Non-stop 300 meter using front crawl and breast stroke
  • Treading water for 2 minutes just using your legs
  • Swimming 25 yards holding a 10 pound brick on your chest while kicking on your back under 1:40

WSI (Age 15+)
American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification Class. Participants will learn to teach water safety including the Basic Water Rescue and Personal Water Safety courses, six levels of Learn-to-Swim, three levels of Preschool Aquatics and two levels of Parent and Child Aquatics. WSI certification will be issued upon completion of this course.
Must also be able to swim 1 lap of each stroke and 1 length of butterfly.

American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification (Age 15+)
This American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification course will provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies. Participants must be able to swim 300 yards continuously, tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs and complete a timed event that includes a surface dive and swimming 25 yards.lifeguard training
