Get Paid for Doing What You Love
Whether your passion is sports, the arts, theatre, education, swimming or outdoor adventures, we have a place for you this summer. There is nothing like working at a day camp, where each child and counselor is valued for exactly who they are. At camp, staff can practice leadership skills and teaching tools, be part of a warm and welcoming community, and experience all of the joys of sunny summer days.
Who You Are
Whether you are an educator looking to fill your summer, a college student with interests in outdoor adventure, education, sports, music or theatre, or a high school student
We are looking for energetic and fun individuals in grades 10 and older who want to be a positive influence on kids from all backgrounds. Diversity and inclusion are at the core of our program and we look for staff with whom every camper can identify. We also welcome ninth-graders will are interested in volunteering throughout the summer.
The Best Kind of Summer Internship
It's your summer. Why would you want to work indoors with a schedule that varies from week to week? When you’re a J-Day Camps counselor or specialist, you get to work outdoors playing, hiking, swimming, cheering, painting, performing and a whole lot more. In addition to making a significant impact on children, you develop leadership skills, gain resume-building opportunities and make important social and professional connections. With weekday hours, your summer nights and weekends are free.
Why Be A Summer Camp Counselor
There are endless opportunities at J-Day Camps.
- Counselors are assigned to a group of campers and guide them through their days of activities and programs.
- Specialists spend their days interacting with all campers who come to that particular activity. Some specialist areas are outdoor adventure, music, creative arts, sports, theatre and challenge courses,
- Lifeguards and Water Safety Instructors lead the safety and fun at our pools in Beachwood and Burton, and private lake in Burton.
- Inclusion Facilitators work one-on-one with campers who require individual support.
How We Train You
All staff participate in an immersive training prior to the first day of camp. In addition to a thorough orientation curriculum, staff development allows our camp team to build community and grow as leaders. During the 40-hour training, all staff will get CPR and first aid certified, including allergy and EpiPen. Training involves full-staff sessions as well as breakouts designed to provide training appropriate for the ages of campers with whom you will be assigned.
