It Must Schwing: The Blue Note Story

Date: September 8, 2019Time: 2:00 pm

Director: Eric Friedler, United States, Germany, 2018, English, German,113 min

Alfred Lion and Francis Wolff, Jewish refugees from Berlin with a passion for jazz, founded the iconic Blue Note Records in 1939. Feeling a strong affinity with African American musicians who experienced blatant discrimination, Lion and Wolff helped launch the careers of many jazz greats including Miles Davis and John Coltrane. Rolling Stone Magazine described the film, with its sublime animation and swinging soundtrack, as a “unique and intimate look at the most exciting era in jazz, one that changed the world forever.”
