Benefits of Pilates

Pilates is a mind-body exercise that promotes strength, stability and flexibility. It develops the body through muscular effort that stems from the core. Some of the principles that guide the Pilates method include concentration on each movement, steady controlled breathing and the use of your core – abdomen and lower back muscles. Exercises can be done using a mat, EXO chair or a Pilates reformer machine.

Pilates Mat Group Exercise Class

We offer a few classes per week in our Rzepka Yoga Studio that focus on stretching and flexibility. Included with The J's membership, class times appear on the group exercise schedule.

 

Introduction to Pilates

Offered as a group class of up to five people, Intro to Pilates provides you with the orientation and instruction that is helpful when you are a beginner. This class uses the Pilates reformer machines in our Pilates Loft.

Roll and Release

Appropriate for all levels, this group class uses foam rollers and Pilates reformer machines in our Pilates Loft. The instruction focuses on increasing your body awareness, reducing pain and improving mobility and balance. Myofascial release and strengthening and stretching exercises are performed.

 

Pilates Reformer Class

Our trainers lead private and small group?classes on Pilates reformer machines in the Pilates Studio. With its sophisticated system of springs, straps and pulleys, more than 500 exercises can be performed on this versatile apparatus. The Reformer's adjustable springs allow for progressive resistance, which helps to lengthen and strengthen the muscles rather than building bulk.
